I’m really excited to introduce you to a couple of our buyer agents, Brian and Marsha. Today, we’re going to learn a little about their lives and careers in the real estate industry.
First, Brian was born and raised in the Eugene area, where he attended the University of Oregon. He has begun to start a family here locally, and he can’t think of a better place he’d rather raise them.
Brian, what are three things that you would do for a first-time homebuyer to make sure they got a great deal?
I love working with first-time homebuyers because it all starts with creating a plan and understanding the process from when they find a home to the point where they close on it.
Step two is introducing them to a lender to help them understand the financial side of the transaction. Beyond that, we help them understand the area if they’re from out of town.
Then, we go through a needs analysis to understand exactly what the buyer is looking for.
Next, I’d like to introduce you to Marsha Westling, who has been a buyer’s agent on our team for five years. Marsha is also a native Eugenian. She raised her own family here and has deep roots in the area.
Marsha, what would you do for a seller who wants to list their home but can’t find another one to buy?
Inventory is low in our current market. Statistics show that we have about 1.3 months of inventory out there, so finding that dream home for our clients can be difficult. One way that we can go the extra mile for them is to reach out to our peers to find out if there are any pocket listings coming up. We also constantly watch the MLS to see if new listings crop up. Additionally, we can reach out to the escrow company, a get a list of the homes in the area that the client likes, and then we can contact those homeowners to see if they’re interested in selling.
Last year, Marsha found homes for three different sellers so they could complete their transactions and get where they wanted to go.
